What is Coaching for Loss and Grief?
 

Coaching itself is where the coach will work in partnership with you the client in a thought provoking and creative way.  Being inspired to identify what you want and then plan a way forward to reality.

Coaching to support you through loss and grief, whether recent or something that happened many years ago, is tailored fit process, unique and individual to you the griever, with someone who understands how loss impacts every part of life.

The coach will always honor you, the client, as the expert in your own life and grieving process. Many grievers struggle with the complex emotions that come with grieving, and most feel they are left to manage it all alone. You can work with an ICF Accredited Coach, to create goals and find the tools, perspective and strategy you need to begin the process of healing.

 

The coach’s responsibility is to help you discover, clarify, and align with what you want to achieve, encourage you on your journey of healing and self-discovery, assist you generate solutions and strategies and assist you achieve your outcomes.  

Coaching will help you improve your outlook on life, improve your confidence and fully unlock your way forward.

 

For this type of coaching, you have to be ready for the thought of change.  Not necessarily what needs to change, but know that something needs to change. For your coach cannot make change happen, it requires for you to consider new viewpoints, feelings and new perspectives with your old ones being challenged. You will also need to be ready to devote the time and the energy to making real changes.

 

What happens during a Grief Coaching session?

Of course, it's different for everyone, but topics often include:

●      New loss and all the big changes that go with it.

  • Self-esteem, and the challenge of rebuilding self-confidence after a significant loss.

  • Every day stressors like work, childcare, and managing a household, and how grief and loss impacts it all.

  • Difficulties with decision-making, from the everyday to the big life decisions that many grievers are facing alone after loss.

  • Identifying support and improving communication with family and friends following loss.

●     The residual and complicated emotions of grief like anger, guilt and regret.

Hope and healing are within reach, and together we can find the strength within you to grieve and grow through this traumatic loss.
